Framelits Dies for simple card

In Stampin' Up!'s Occasions mini catalog they came out with Framelits dies collections.  They have a heart collection and the Labels Collection I used for this card. 

These are thin, wafer-like dies that you can cut different sizes of the same shape to create frames or to be used like I did here as a base for my image.  You can stamp first then place the Framelits die over stamped image so you get the perfect placement or just cut out a stamped image and place it over the die cut cardstock.  No matter how you use these dies I am sure you will love them. 

I will show you other samples in the future.  This simple card was made with Crumb Cake cardstock, added a scrap of the striped designer series paper pack Everyday Enchantment.  I die cut a framelits from Peach Parfait carstock and added a very vanilla oval punched image.  Added my cut of blooms from the stamp set Bordering on Romance and a punched Baja Breeze cardstock strip using the Dotted Scallop lace ribbon punch.  The words are stamped from one of my favorite stamp set in the Occasions catalog Loved Ones.  It has these great images that attach to the family words that are so much fun to use.

Bordering on Romance

This month I created this scrapbook page for one of my scrapbooking classes.  I loved how it turned out and used it for my daughter's senior book I am working on.  I still need to add a title and journaling but I won't be working on it again for a while so I thought I would show you how it turned out anyway. 

I used Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-bration paper pack Everyday Enchantment. I have loved designing and working with this paper pack.  It can look really frilly like this two page spread or less girly like the truck page I showed last week. 

I used one full sheet of the darkest color and trimmed it by 1/2" on one side, I then cut 2" off the sheet and glued one sheet to one page and the other sheet to the other one.  I tucked coordinating cardstocks accents under these two sheets.  The accent image was done using Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, now that is a mouthful.  These are great little frames you can emboss into your cardstock using the Big Shot.  I love the way they look, they make a terrific frame for the Bordering on Romance stamped image.  I stamped it with Early Espresso ink and colored it using chalks and a q-tip.  Chalking use to be my favorite way to color and I got out of the habit of using them so it was fun to color with chalks again. 

I finished the page off by stamping the long flower stamp image with Very Vanilla craft ink and added a simple bow tied using the 1/8" organdy ribbon that comes in the Everyday Enchantment ribbon and brad pack.

This card was made using the Elementary Elegance Sale-a-bration stamp set.  I love how the stamp was designed so you can punch the middle out using the Curly Label punch.  I did that on this card.  The image is stamped on the front towards to the top of the card, I then punched the inside out and stamped the greeting in the middle so it show through the window.  I added a couple of the accent images to the frame stamp image and used a scrap of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series papers for the bottom of the card and added a Poppy Parade cardstock ribbon piece to stitch the top and bottom of the card together.  I then added a rhinestoneaccent to the cardstock piece.  A simple birthday card that won't take long to create. 

I Dig You Scrap page

I have been working hard on a graduation book for my daughter and have not been as faithful at putting photos on the pages I created for my scrapbooking class.  I decided to share this page with you even without photos and maybe I will show it again once I get the photos put on.  This page was created using Stampin' Up!'s  Sale-a-bration paper pack Everyday Enchantments Designer Series Paper.  I love this paper and even more because I earned it free during Sale-a-bration.  We have until the end of March to take advantage of the free products available during this years Sale-a-bration.  Check out my web site to order and for more details: http://wendythestamper.stampinup.net

This page has 4" green strip that was glued like a pocket so the tags can slip down into it.  You glue the 2" orange piece so it bumps up to the greeh sheet but does not cover the opening.  I tucked the gray piece that was punched with the notebook punch under orange strip.  I also added a half inch strip from the Sweet Shop Designer Series Paper.  Glue this strip on top of the green piece so you don't block your pocket. 

The tags are 4" x 6" gray cardstock pieces punched with the corner tab punch. The inside color pieces are 3 3/4 x 6 inch pieces in Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Peach Parfait cardstocks punched like the gray pieces.  Layer these so the tops are framed right, don't worry about the bottoms since they are tucked down inside the green paper pocket. I also added 3/4" punch from Designer paper and a brad at the top of each tag.

The stamp set is I Dig You by Stampin' Up!. I used markers in Basic Gray, Lucky Limeade and Peach Parfait to color in the different sections of each truck. Stamped these on Very Vanilla cardstock, cut them out and added them to the pages using Dimensionals.

The tag on the second page has lines stamped on it from Stampin' Up!'s Notes and Details Stamp set.  I really liked how this page turned out and even if you don't have a little boy it could be a great page for anybody you like.  When we made this page in Saudi Arabia, on of my international friends wanted to know if this was a good thing, and what it meant.  I forget sometimes that in English we use a lot of expressions that don't quite translate well.

Butterfly Photobook Box

I mentioned yesterday on my blog how hard it is to go shopping for great birthday gifts.  I showed Chay's gift she made yesterday and today I thought I would show what Bryn and I created for her friend. 

Bryn found out that her friend loves pictures and inserting pictures into photo books.  She wanted to give her a photo book decorated in her favorite colors.  I had some photo books laying around so we covered them with Stampin' Up! Designer Series papers, added ribbon to hold them closed, and cute butterfly accents stamped from Flight of the Butterfly Stampin' Up! stamp set.  We then decided to make a set and create a file folder box for them to fit into. 

The file folder box was created like a mini file folder.  You can make one to hold cards from a single sheet of 12x12 cardstock but we needed this box to be a little bigger so we glued.  This box was a 12x12 piece of cardstock scored 4 1/2 and 7 1/2 lines tall way and 6 1/2 and 11" lines long way.  Score a 3 x 12 piece at 4 1/2 and 7 1/2 and glue to 12 x 12 piece lining up score lines. 

Score the middle flaps 1 1/2" from end of paper, these will fold over inside of the box creating a sturdy box. 

Cut on the 6 1/2 and 11 score lines to the middle score line from each side.  Also on the large top piece cut 3" from 6 1/2" score line to 1/2 from 4 1/2" score line creating the diagonal of the box.  I trimmed a little off the opposite end to help the box fold together right.

Fold up the smallest end folding flap to the center standing them up, fold the center flaps over the ends you folded up and glue them down.  Now fold the box end you cut on a diagonal up.  Add decorative papers to make a finished box look.

Gifts for Friends

One of the hard things about living in Saudi Arabia is the shopping.  Because women don't drive you can't just jump in the car and drive yourself to the store, you have to take a bus or hire a driver to take you.  The buses runs 2 times in the morning and a few times at night.  Most stores are closed in the middle of the afternoon.  Drivers have to be called in advance, so no I forgot I have a birthday party tonight runs to the store.  And then what store?  We have very nice malls here but they are expensive and I am not much of a mall shopper, the souks are fun but don't carry great youth gifts.  So when my daughter have a birthday party coming up we have found ourselves creating fabulous gifts for them from whatever stuff I have on hand. 

That is what happened this week, we made birthday gifts.  Both girls had parties and the three of us had such fun creating something special for their friends.  Chay made Kim a file folder notebook holder and a paper purse for the dark chocolate Kim loves.  The notebook was created from a file folder, by scoring pocket and cutting part of it off you have a great place to put a notebook, you could even tuck a few envelopes in the other pocket.  We decorated the notebook and pen to match, added butterfly accents using Stampin' Up!'s stamp set Butterfly Prints.  We used discontinued Stampin' Up! papers because it is what we had but any Designer Series papers would have worked great.  Red is Kim's favorite color so this was perfect for us. 

We wanted to create a matching paper purse and we made a card that matched as well.  The purse is one piece of Designer Series papers, score both sides at 2 1/2 inches, then turn 1/4 of a turn and score these 4 inches from both ends.  The tricky part is on both ends, both outsides; you fold the 4" score line up to the 2 1/2" score line creating a 2 1/2" diagonal fold, this allows you to put stuff into the middle section and creates the purse affect. 

to finish the purse, fold the 2 1/2 ends in and add 2" x 7" piece of cardstock folded in half to the end of the purse.  We also added a Round Tab punched from Stampin' Up!'s Round Tab punch.  Finished it off with a rhinestone and white gel pen stitching.  We also added her name that was cut using the Big Shot and Stampin' Up! Timeless Type Junior and butterflies from the Butterfly Prints Stamp set. 

These gifts were the hit of the party which made Chay feel really good about what she created.

Bunny Basket Box with Dresden Big Shot die

I was sitting at my desk trying to be creative when I came up with this Bunny Basket Box for my next Hands On class.  I love bunnies and this one turned out with so much charm. 

To make this fun Easter basket box you need cardstock and a few other supplies.  It is 10 x 12" cardstock scored 5" and 7"  long way and  2" from each side on short way.  Glue side 2" on top of each other to form basket box.  The extra 2x 12 piece of cardstock cut from the 12x12 piece is the handle.  I used the sale-a-bration brads to hold the handle to the box. 

 I used DSP 5 3/4 x 4 3/4" piece to decorate the front and back of box.  The bunny is made using different Big Shot dies and Stampin' Up! punches.  The ears use the Bigz L Die Dresden Designs available in Stampin' Up! mini catalog.  The oval face is the oval frame die, main catalog. 

The cheeks are 1" punches (attached with dimensionals) eyes are 1/2" punches (glued flat), nose is heart punch (glued to cheeks), wiskers and mouth are drawn on with permanent black marker.  The flower is created by punching strip of DSP with scallop lace punch and glueing it in a circle.  Add a punched flower and button for center. I tied a ribbon bow from the sale-a-bration Everyday Enchantment ribbon pack and added flower and greeting. 

I sponged the inside of the ears, around face and on cheeks.  I added catch lights to the bunnies eyes with a white gel pen.  To add life to the ears use a bone folder to curl them a little.
