The other day my husband got an email with Jeff Foxworthy's statements about Utah and I thought it was so funny and mostly true. Jeff has a way of making the things you take for granted about a place funny.
I thought about the statements for a few weeks and then decided they would make great journaling for a page about Utah. I was looking through my stash of scrap pages without pictures and came across this page that we used a couple diaper wipe techniques that seemed to be perfect for the pictures of Utah.
The first diaper wipe technique was used on the words. UTAH. To create multi colored images you use regular diaper wipes, I open them and fold them in half one direction and then in half the other and I put them on the top of a stampin' lid that I cut from an extra plastic box. (you can purchase these replacement boxes from a demonstrator) Decide what colors you like. I try not to use more than 3 or 4 colors because after that they seem to get a muddy look. Use ink refill bottles and drop a few drops on a small area in the middle of the diaper wipe. I make sure it is large enough to be the ink pad for the stamps you want to use. Keep adding drop from each of the bottles. I usually start with the darkest color and use the lighter colors to fill in the blank spots a little.
Now use that diaper wipe as your "ink pad" and stamp as usual. It is that simple.
The second diaper wipe technique is what I did behind the chocolate chip stamped images. After stamping my title I then gather the edges of the diaper wipe and ball it up with the ink refill drop towards the bottom, (I hold the part of the diaper wipe that does not have ink on it so my fingers don't get messy). Now dab up and down on your cardstock, I used vanilla here, lightly covering the area you want to use as background. We did a full sheet of paper and then stamped the images over the dabbed cardstock and cut them out.
Ink refills are great for keeping your ink pads nice and juicy but they have many other uses. I like to refill my markers, do speciality technique like the diaper wipe technique with them. If you need to purchase ink refills go to my Stampin' Web site: http://wendythestamper.stampinup.net or email me at and I can help you with your refill needs.
This was always one of my favorite pages that you created. i love the natural look and colors of this one. It is so fun to see all of your scrapbook layouts that you made over the years - and know that I have so many of them. I miss your scrapbook classes here in Georgia.
