I visited my friend Wendy this summer and we talked quilting. I love that Stampin' Up!'s big shot dies work so well to create easy and unique quilts. This one is created with the Pennant Die, using all the pieces to create both the diamond shape and the blossoms intersections. I can't wait for all my fabric and supplies to arrive, (I know it will still be months, somewhere around the first of October, but I can dream about all the quilts I want to make until then).
The fun thing about living here is even though my house might be small I have access to a wonderful quilt house.
It has several rooms that with a yearly fee of about $24.00 us dollars you can access it anytime day or night. They have lots of matts, rulers, irons and ironing boards and work spaces, places for you to keep your sewing machine under lock and key if you are coming back soon, copy machine, kitchen, fridge stocked with cold drinks, a library of quilting books and magazines, they have tables that are raised for laying out your quilts.
The other day I was alone for the first time since coming here to Arabia and I just went over and curled up in a chair in the Quilt house and read quilting magazines for a hour or two, it was so relaxing and motivating.
The quilters here meet every week, and they also have on going charity quilts being made that they give to the hospitals outside of camp for those in need. It is a great program that provides something wonderful for those who don't have much. I love this quilt house and plan to spend some time there in the future.
