This past week I had a little get together with some friends and we made Shelli Gardner's (owner of Stampin' Up!) bat she created for her grandchildren.  We also made a couple of cards. 

The bat is created with the Petal Cone Bigz L Die. I love this die it is fun to work with and I loved how Shelli added pennants that one side was punched with circle punches for wings.  Stampin' Up! carries a new die called Perfect Pennants and it has several sizes of pennants, one for whatever project you are working on.  I used an old star punch for the fangs and 1/2" circle punch for the eyes.  Add a couple green brads and a tag and you have a treat holder anyone would enjoy getting.

One of the card was created with Stampin' Up! Hello Doily stamp and white embossing powder.  The other card is Pennant Parade stamp set and the Petite Pennants Builder Punch.  It was a bright birthday card that could be used for any age.

Cone Die Valentine

The new cone die in Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Mini catalog is quickly becoming one of my favorite dies.  I love making the cone and Chaylee made one to give to her teacher as a gift that was warmly received but even more than the cone it was designed to create there are many more creative ideas I have seen using this die.

This cone die Valentine was created by Janet Baker and I got this one at Stampin' Up!'s leadership.  Stampin' Up!'s cone die makes a perfect pocket to tuck in a sweet for your sweet.  The cone was cut from Whisper White cardstock and the accent piece from both Real Red and Love Impressions Specialty Designer Series paper.  The Whisper White cardstock was wheeled using the I (love) love roller and real red ink.  Add a greeting using Stampin' Up!'s XOXO stamp set and a couple punched hearts and you have a great valentine for your child to take to school or for you to give anyone you care about.

Bigz Candy Wrapper Die Stampin' Style

This week I was playing with the new Bigz Candy Wrapper Die that is new in Stampin' Up!'s Holiday catalog and created this cute box in just a few minutes. 

I used the Holiday paper Jolly Holiday Designer Paper.  I cut a 6" square and die cut it with Sizzix Big Shot and Candy Wrapper die.  Then I punched a tag with Stampin' Up!'s new Extra-large Punch called Decorative Label, folded it at about 1/3 from the bottom, on the bottom piece I stamped the Merry Christmas  from Stampin' Up!'s Merry Crittermas stamp set and on the 2/3 part I stamped the squirrel and colored him in.  The tag is glued to the box with the fold on the tag lining up with the edge of the box.  I think I might create these for a Holiday fair I am doing here for tree ornaments.   

They are quick and easy and would look great hanging from a tree.  You could even put little surprises inside and give them to visitors when they come to your house.  It is never to early to start thinking about the Holidays. 

Stampin' Up! Big Shot Milk Carton Die

This little milk carton is so cute and several can be cut at one time using the Big Shot and the milk carton die.  This little project was done at the leadership conference I attended in January and thought I would share it with  you.  I love how the die cuts and scores the box so all you have to do it decorate it.  This milk carton is not very big so decorating it can be a snap. 

The clip holds the top closed and the ribbon adds just a little accent. The words and flower accent come in Stampin' Up! stamp set "With All My Heart".  To get just the words from the stamp make sure your stamp is clean and then use a marker to color in just the part of the stamp you want.  This technique is called omitting.  I love that a brad is the perfect center for this little flower.

Petal Pizzazz Sweet Treat by Stampin' Up!

I have really enjoyed using Stampin' Up!'s sweet treat cups and in trying to create a flower that would be simple to stamp I discovered that Stampin' Up! Petal Pizzazz stamp set has a perfect flower that when you punch out the middle with the 1 3/4" circle punch it leaves the perfect petals to frame the sweet treat cup.  Petal Pizzazz also has a leaf stamp that accents this flower. 

I used a piece of Basic Black cardstock cut 4 1/4 x 11 and folded it in the middle and then cut off 2 1/2 inches from the front of the card.  I added a 4x5 1/4 piece of real red cardstock to the inside and scalloped a 1 x 4 1/4 piece of whisper white cardstock for the the edge using the sale-a-bration scallop trim punch.  I punched the flower center out before cutting the flower completely out so I had something to hole onto as I punched.  If you want to be able to remove the candies punch a 1 3/4 in circle in the black cardstock and a piece of white cardstock that is glued to the back of the front to create a pocket for the tag to be placed and remember not to use the sticky back of the sweet treat if you are going to use the tag as the holder for your window to remove the candies. 

This card takes a couple of minutes to make but it has such a wow factor when it is done.  Enjoy

Valentine Love

Last night I stayed up late (I am not sure why I can't seem to get these kinds of things done during the day), making Valentine treat holders to send my older daughter who is serving a church mission and sugar cookies for my girls for Valentine's. 

I grew up having my mom make a giant sugar cookies for my brothers and me with our name on them the night before Valentine's so we woke up in the morning with them on the table. 

I liked this tradition and did it with my girls.  Last night at dinner I told the 3 girls at home that I would have to make the cookies tonight because the next couple days and nights are so busy.  I found out that Tysha thought there was a sugar cookies bunny or Santa Claus who magically make these cookies and left them each year.  Here I thought my sugar cookies were letting my girls know how much I love them and instead they thought they just magically appeared at Valentine's Morning.  

These boxes are the sweetheart candies covered in card stock and decorated.  I used Stampin' Up!'s new papers from the Occasions Mini catalog called Sending Love Specialty  #117153.  This paper has glittered accents, that don't rub off.  The ribbon is the new colors of 5/8" satin ribbons.  

I also created the little box from yesterday's blog in the brown colors and filled it with hearts.  I hope my girls now realize that these treats are their mom telling them she loves them.

Big Shot envelope treat box

This cute little treat holder is created using the Big Shot and Stampin' Up!'s envelope die.  Jeanne my down line created this at leadership and I thought it was really cute.  She used Stampin' Up!'s Real Red card stock and the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series paper #117153.

You cut two envelopes and trim the edges to for the box.  One of the envelope flaps are folded forward and the other one is kept straight up.  She finished it with a red gingham ribbon bow and one of the Sending Love Epoxy Brads #117270.  A perfect size for a Valentine treat.

Stampin' Up! Snow Buddies and Sweet Treat cups

I have the most talented women in my Starz group and we always have such a fun time sharing ideas with each other.  At our meeting a couple of months ago Monika shared with us how to create a sweet treat card that you can open to fill.  We all loved it and yet found that it only worked if the design was close to the edge of your card.  Michelle took the idea home and worked at it until she figured out a way to create a card so the sweet treat cup could be in the middle of the card and yet still fillable from the inside of the card, and she brought the idea back to our meeting the share with all of us. 

The trick is to not use the adhesive on the back of the sweet treat cup.  She cut a couple inches of the card front and cut another piece of card-stock the same size as the front of the card.  She punched a 1 3/4" circle punch hole in the same place on both pieces.  Decorate the extra piece as the front of the card.   She then glued the cup to the back opening of the extra piece and layered this onto the front of the card creating a pocket.  Now slip in the pull out card with the accent image on it and you have a sweet treat card with the opening in the center of your card.   

Holiday Bread Bag

  We have just less than a month before my Gift Making Extravaganza event and this Holiday Bread Bag is the most popular project for my weekend class. 

This bag idea was shared with my STARZ group by Julia Grenier at our convention meeting and I adapted it for the Holidays.  I thought it would be the perfect size for a loaf of holiday bread to take to your neighbors or office friends.  It is easy to make and they will all look different depending of the designer paper you use. 

My class will be held Friday, November 6, and Saturday November 7, from 10 am to 10 pm each day.  The class fee is $15.00 plus supply fees depending on the projects you choose to make.  The Holiday Bread Bag is $3.00 each and should not take more than 10 minutes to make.

Stampin' Up! Sweet Treat cups

At the meeting I attended in California one of the ladies made these great flowers using the Sweet Treat cups and Stampin' Up!'s sweet centers stamp set.  I have enjoyed playing with this stamp set but because it is fall I have not created any samples with the flower petal or leaves that come with this set.  I really liked how they look and attaching them to a sucker stick really add another touch. 

The large black and white flower was created using the most popular Stampin' Up! stamp from the new catalog Medallion.  She trimmed around the edges and added a colorful center using the sweet treat cups and some colored candies.  That is a large flower but really cute, I can see them stuck in a hand stamped flower pot as a center piece for a party. 

The Sweet Center stamp set is somewhat deceptive.  When you look at the set you see the heart and the Halloween eek stamp but a lot of people miss the other pieces because they don't stand out as much.  The set includes a petal piece that was used in these samples. The purple flower had 7 petals that were stamp around the center.  The set includes a leaf stamp which stamps both the large leaf and small leaf at the same time.  It also has a ornament top piece so you can create Christmas ornaments with this set and the base of a Hot Air balloon.  This makes this set very versatile and one you can use all year long.

Halloween Hands On Class projects

What fun I had making this next month's Hands On projects.  I decided to do a Halloween Hands On since Halloween is a fun holiday to decorate for.  I adapted a swag from Shelli Gardner's presentation at convention.  (Shelli is the founders/owner of Stampin' Up!) My swag says Spooky and will look great hanging in a window or along a table at any Halloween party.  We will also be making a Jiffy Pop gift with the new pumpkin faces in the Home Decor catalog.  It is a cute gift but also looks create hanging from a hook if you find you don't want to give it away.  I will be showing you the new sweet cups that are coming out in the new mini catalog that is available September 1st and we will be making a Halloween card from a great layout that works with so many stamp sets.

June's Hands On Class

On the 2nd Friday in June, (June 12, 10am and repeated at 7:30pm), I am having my Hands On Class for the month and this month we will be making a Father's Day Clipboard and the mini purse and 2 cards.  I thought the clipboard would be a great gift for any dad and can hold pictures that are taken horizontal or vertical. 

The little purse can hold treats or small gifts like jewelry or even mini cards and envelopes.  It is made using the top note Big Shot Die and the scallop circle die.  I will teach how to cut using the new circle scissor system and we will accent it with the Daisy die.

Bunny Box

  This is one of the ideas I saw on my Hawaii trip.  This box is Box #2 Bigz SL dies and the bunny is created using heart punches that are turned upside down, cut in half and piece trimmed from.  The grass and carrot top was created with the Boho punch and the small heart is from the 3 hearts punch. 

I think this is a great box to hold jelly beans or any treat to let those you care about know you care at this special time of year, Easter. 

Big Shot Envelope Basket

 I designed this little basket for a workshop I had this past Saturday here in Woodstock.  I had seen a box made from 4 of the envelope dies.  I cut 4 envelopes from the Shimmery White card-stock and cut off the side flaps on two of them.  I die cut 4 top flaps and trimmed them 1/8" on the flat side and glued them to each envelope flap.  I then glued the 4 envelopes together with sticky strip.  Fold in the bottom and glue a 3 1/8" square to stabilize the bottom.  Then I added a handle. 

Stamp before putting in the bottom so you have a flat surface.

Happy Valentine Day

  I know Valentine's Day is tomorrow but since I usually only write during the week I wanted to write a little note and wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day.

When I think of Valentine's Day, I think of giant sugar cookies decorated just for me.  My mom used to bake a giant sugar cookies and put your name on one and no one could eat your cookie.  I loved that and I love my mom's recipe for sugar cookies. 

The colors in this year's Valentine papers are the colors my mom and now I use to create our giant sugar cookies.  I know a cookies is a simple thing but I felt loved in having received one each year and I think sometimes simple things shows loved as well as big, expensive things. 

So Happy Valentine's.  I hope you try sharing love with someone this year by doing or making something simple to let those around you know how much you care.

My girl's Valentines

  It was different this year as I thought about 1/2 of my girls being away and not here for me to create my annual cookie for them so I made a few of these purse treat holders and mailed them to my older girls.  I made extra so they can share them with their roommates or friends if they want to, if not they can keep all the candy to themselves. 

I know I shared this ideas a few weeks ago so I won't write the details again but they looked so great all stacked together I had to take a picture and share my accomplishment.

I stamped the large heart from the Always stamp set and then punched it with the new large heart punch to create this elegant heart very quickly.  It is not the same shape of heart but big enough you can punch one clean, I look forward to trying this with other stamp designs.

I hope my girls feel my love when they get these cute little treats.

Sucker flower in Pot

 My down-line LaRee brought me this cute flower as a gift.  I love it.  It is simple to make because it uses the blooms that just need to be punched out, a rhinestone brad, a little ribbon, small amounts of designer paper, a couple silver brads and a Dum Dum sucker.

The sucker is hidden in the flower pot and the flowers are glued to the sucker stick. 

I think this is a great Valentine or even a spring treat to take to a child's class.

Pixie Treat Holder

 What a fun treat holder for pixie sticks my downline LaRee shared with us at a meeting and then my upline, Sandy, sent it to me as well. 

It is a great Valentine project that your kids can help you make. 

A few stamps, a few punches, some pixie sticks and you have this darling Valentine wish that can be handed out to everyone you meet.

Top Note Purse

I loved this purse pattern.  We made this at my Open House, this past Saturday in Woodstock, Georgia.  It was created with the Top Note die cut with the Big Shot.  You use a quarter sheet of cardstock and a scrap from any Designer Series paper.  Lay them together and cut.  Then glue Designer paper leaving a shadow of the card stock along the edge.  Score die cut image at 1 1/4" and 1 1/2".  Fold along score lines and punch 1/8" holes.  Feed ribbon through holes and glue to inside.  Fill small cello bag with candy.  Glue bag up side down to main part of purse.  Fold over, this keeps the candy in and yet allows for easy access.  Add stamp image and glue to purse flap.  Glue flap to cello bag.

From "owl" house to yours!

 I love the new Big Shot die cutting machine and especially the top note die, there are so many fun things to do with it.  This owl made a great treat holder at Halloween but is as cute as a Christmas owl.  I created this project for my KSU group of ladies because KSU mascot is an owl. 

This box could be the perfect way to deliver cookies or treats to your neighbors.  The Santa hat is created with the large tag punch, half of a scallop punch and one of the flowers from Boho flower punch. 

The owl is the scallops die, top note die folded in half, a scallop punch, one petal from the 5 petal flower punch (beak), the eyes are 1" circles full and the close to cocoa is cut in half, the black centers are a 3/4" circle punch the feet are another flower from the Boho flower punch.  The branch is free hand and the leaf stamp is in the Flower Fancy stamp set.  I rolled the box with the holly roller.  The saying is printed on cardstock from my computer and then punched with tag punch and stamped with an owl from the Owl together stamp set.

To create the box score a 12x12 piece of CS 3" from opposite sides and 41/2 on the two remaining opposites sides.  Glue together and I used large brad accents to hold the 1x12 handle in place.
