Convention Week!

Can you believe that I have to come to a Stampin' Convention to get a rest.  For those of you who have been to a Stampin' Up! convention you know we go from early in the morning to late at night but at least I am only worrying about one thing instead of 5 or more.   Moving into the new home was crazy, starting from nothing and trying to get it livable but it is as done as it is going to get because I have convention, wedding, mission and Ted's school and then home again.  Busy, fun summer. 

I thought I would share one of the cards I made to exchange here in Salt Lake City.  This stamp set it raining flowers and is one of the free sets we received for attending Stampin' Up!'s convention.  It is a great new two step flower set that makes beautiful cards, gifts and scrap pages.  I am excited to use it more over the next few months.

Stampin' Up!'s Retired list are out!

It is the end of another catalog year and you can check out all the retired stamp sets and accessories on my Stampin' Web site: http://wendythestamper.stampinup.net.  The stamp sets are available until the end of June but all supplies are until supplies last so it is best to check out what is available on my site so you can see for yourself if what you want is available.  I know each year at this time of year I feel a little sad when one or more of my favorite stamps set or supplies are no longer available but I know that when product leaves it is to provide room for new products that can become a favorite of mine. 

Because the end of the school year is approaching for us here in Saudi I am getting ready to travel back to the states to set up house in a new home we are hopefully closing on next week (it has been a little scary purchasing a home we have never seen but in pictures) that we will be able to stay in when you come home to visit.  I am also looking forward to seeing friends and family and participating in our daughter's wedding, mission good-bye, Stampin' Up!'s convention in July and a quick trip to Georgia in August, that while Ted is in class I will be shoping and visiting with friends.  Whew, I'm tired already and I have not left yet.

What do you value?

On Tuesday night (early Wednesday morning for me) I am doing a phone meeting for my downline, my STARZ group,  based on a training seminar given by Rich Jutkins, Stampin' Up!'s CEO.  We are going to talk about what do you really value.  It seems when we are trying to accomplish things in our lives we say we want to do better but if that is not tied to something that is deeply important to us, it is harder to accomplish that goal. 

To tie our objectives or in other words what we want to accomplish to what we value, we need to determine what we really value.  This is not always an easy thing to do.  Select here and print off this values list and read over the words, which ones speak to you, which ones do you think are important to you, which ones light you up inside when you think about them?  Once you have highlighted those values, try and rank them in order of importance.  It is often good to do this then think about them for a while.  Then focus on your top ten.  (Your values can change order of importance depending of life experiences and should be looked at often to make sure you are focusing on what is valuable to you.)

Once you know what your values are you can set out to accomplish your objectives both personally and professionally.  To do this you want to make your objectives specific, measureable and time-bound.  If family is a value for you just thinking about spending time with them won't help you accomplish anything, but deciding to spend time with them will, deciding to spend time making cards, one night a week for 3 months is better. 

Think about what you value?  Make it specific (what are you going to do). Make it measureable means when, or how often.  Make it time bound which means for how long?

I hope you can have a more enriching life as you focus your efforts doing things that are based on your values.  This does not mean you can't make more money or spend more time with family and therefore you give up your professional goals, it means making your professional goals line up with what you value letting them work together.

The Stamper's New Look

They say you are always learning something and the computer world kind of forces you to learn new things all the time.  I have been tired of my old blog look for a long time but the learning curve on designing my own seemed so steep that I have put off doing it.  But this past week I sat down to learn and this simple design is what I came up with for my first attempt. 

I would love to know your thoughts or suggestions on what you think.  Also I am always open to ideas on the kinds of post you enjoy reading the most.  Do you like card samples, scrapbooking samples, life stories, photo tips?  Do you enjoy ideas using discontinued Stampin' Up! products or do you want me to post only current product samples?

The Stamper's STARZ Meeting

Saturday night my STARZ downline and I got together for a night of sharing, networking, building friendships and stamping.  It is always fun to get together with such great women.  Monika shared a fun cupcake box with us and Cindy brought several great card samples she has been working on and Michelle a little purse. 

 We made several projects one of which is this color book.  With Stampin' Up! introducing 6 new in colors we made these little books using the bag w/scallops Bigz die and the Big Shot die cutting machine.  We cut 2 of just the scallop top piece and one we cut of the scallop and then cut it in half and glued the halves on the inside of the other piece to create a book.  (This would be a fun mini scrapbook album) Then we took 3/4" circles and created wonderful color combos, this little book can stand on a desk and be there whenever you need a fun color combo.  Some of the color combos we came up with are:
