Another Stampin' Up! Awash with Flowers samples

Before this stamp set, (Stampin' Up! Awash with Flowers) is set aside for a few months I thought I would share a couple more samples. This set will be available again in July when the new catalog comes out.

This card is Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo Whisper white, Basic Black cardstocks and inks.  I used the Curly Label punch at the top and the bottom of the opening I wanted for the window opening.  I finished the opening with a square punch. 

This second card is made with So Saffron, Rose Red and Whisper White cardstocks.  The center is cut with the Big Shot and the Top Note die.  The little tag is Tiny Tags and the Jewelry punch that are in the Occasions mini catalog that is good until the end of April. 

This final card is Old Olive cardstock and Designer Series paper that is a rectangle cut in half and glued to the bottom edge of the Whisper White cardstocks.  The flower is inked with So Saffron, Regal Rose center and the set is stamped with Old Olive ink then colored in with an Old Olive marker.  I have loved Stampin' Up! Tiny Tags and Jewelry Tag punch.  I found out these items will be available in the new catalog that comes out in July. 

I can't wait for the new catalog.  I love new products.  

Stampin' Up! Awash with Flowers

This past week I made this card for a card club with Stampin' Up!'s Awash with flowers stamp set.  This set will be coming out in the main catalog in July but Stampin' Up! has it as a early purchase for April.  

This card is Eggplant Envy, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Whisper White cardstocks and classic inks.  I used the Scallop corner punch and the Large Oval punches. 

I finished the card with 2-way glue and dazzling diamonds glitter. 

I like that this flower can be used either direction.  I copied a card that I found on Shelli's blog.

This card is made with Stampin' Up!'s Awash with Flowers set.  I copied the idea from Shelli Gardner's blog (the owner of Stampin' Up!)  I really liked the look and it was easy to create.  The colors are Basic Black, Real Red, Certainly Celery and Whisper white cardstocks and inks.  The Celery cardstock was misted with water and then crunched up and flattened out.  The whisper white cardstock is stamped and then cut into 1" pieces and attached with dimensionals.

Sunset birds

I was looking on Stampin' Up! connections for demonstrators and I came across a card that I copied to make this one.  I loved the sunset look with the dark grass and birds that were punched using the extra large bird punch.  The lady I copied from used a brayer but I used sponges to get the background.  The colors are some of the colors that are retiring in June.  Really Rust and Apricot Appeal.  You sponge 3/4 of the Big Shot Top Note die that was cut using whisper white cardstock using Apricot Appeal ink, then 1/2 of the Top Note using Really Rust ink and then 1/4 of the Top Note die using Bravo Burgundy ink. (this color will be staying). 

You then stamp the grass using Stazon black ink.  The grass piece is found in the Inspired by Nature stamp set. Now sponge the bottom of the Top Note piece using Black ink.  Punch the birds using the Extra large bird punch from the occasion mini catalog and add them to the card.  Layer top note with Apricot Appeal, Really Rust, Basic Black punched squares, Apricot Appeal and finally Basic Black cardstock.  (lots of layers, I did this leaving off the last black layer and it looks just as good). 

I liked this card so much that when I designed my Wow Scrapbooking Class I held last Friday I adapted this card to a page that turned out beautiful.  You can check out the Wow pages at wowscrapbookkits.com

Sunshine Award

 I am so glad Monika became a demonstrator too because she brings joy into my life.  I think that is the best part of being a demonstrator are the friendships you make with people you would not have meet any other way. 

I few years ago my husband and I were talking because one of our friend's kid's airplane landed in an unexpected airport and could not get home and like most parents we wondered how we would feel and what we would do if that happened to one of our daughters.  What joy we felt when we realized that because of my stamping business I know someone in almost every major airport city that I could call and say, " hey could you help me with something?'  That is what has come into my life because of other demonstrators.

The Stamper's Wow Scrapbook Class

I love to scrapbook and to create pages that remind me of the good times in our lives.  I also love to teach scrapbook classes and see others enjoy creating pages to remind them of the times in their life as well.  This Friday is the 4th Friday of April and will be my Wow Scrapbook class.  This is a class where you create 3 two-page spreads to drop your pictures onto at home.  I create, cut and set up stations for you to complete each project so it is simple and you get a lot of scrapbooking done in a very short amount of time. 

I hold these classes each month at 10am and repeat the class at 7:30pm.  The cost is $30.00 for 3 two-page spreads.  You must let me know in advance if you want to come so I can prepare packets for you.

Stampin' Up! gets new colors!

Between Spring Break, a unexpected trip out of town, internet problems and general life experiences my blog has had to take a back seat but I wanted to share some great news with you today.  A couple of weeks ago Stampin' Up! announced that we will be getting new color families and colors in July when the new yearly catalog comes out. 

This change was exciting for me because I know I am not using all of the colors we now have available because some of them are outdated or don't have accessories that match and I really miss some of those in-colors that retired.  This change might feel like a big one but the reality is some of those great in-colors you loved so much that retired already are being brought back and we are getting 5 new core colors as well.  And Stampin' Up! will provide both demonstrators and customers kits to replace outdated, chalks, markers, watercolor crayons as well as ink pads and card stocks so you don't have to purchase colors you already own again.

This chart shows the new color families and what they will look like if you click on the pictures you should be able to download a chart.  Also you can select this link and see what colors are being retired.  I know there are a couple of these colors I might miss so I am stocking up on cardstock and ink refills so I will have enough for future projects.  The products in the retired colors will be available until the last chance list comes out in June and then only until supplies last.

Deep Sea fishing fun.

Ted ran across these pictures of him on a business trip (yes he took customers/friends deep sea fishing for a living when we lived in California, it was like a gold trip he told me.) When he ran across these pictures he has such a good time remembering this trip that I sat down and created this page to put in his book so he can easily look back in time.  (way back in time, this was before he even grew a beard)

This page was create in one of my wow scrapbook classes so it was already for me to drop my pictures onto it and in a few minutes I had a great page and preserved a memory.  

Several years ago I started a new system for scrapbooking, I am never behind and I have the freedom to scrapbook whatever I feel like at this moment.  I have a book for each child and one for my husband and me (I don't scrapbook as many pictures about Ted and I as I do my girls).  I have another scrapbook for Places we go, People we love and Things we do and when I create a page I file it into one of these books.  I am amazed how much more scrapbooking I do because I am excited about creating a page for whatever is on my mind and the moment and how free I feel to create something and complete it after one two page spread instead of thinking I have to complete a whole book.  This concept was not my idea I read about it from Stacy Julian from simple scrapbook magazine and have loved scrapbooking this way and I hope you try it out and scrapbook whatever memory you want to today.

Stampin' Up! Kaleidoscope Designer Paper

Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series paper Kaleidoscope has been one of my favorite papers this year and I am enjoying it even more now that spring is in the air.  This paper has some beautiful color but it also has some very bold designs on one side of the double sided papers and I have cut one of these bold swirl designs and used that for my accent on this page.  I also cut out a few more flowers from the paper and added them with dimensionals to this design to balance the page.  I used Basic Black cardstock for my base color because it really helps the pinks and greens to pop off this page and I love how it highlights these pictures of my youngest daughter. 

This was a simple page to put together because I only added a 5 inch piece of pretty in pink cardstock and the designer paper images.  I used the Stampin' Up! Sizzlite's Timeless Type Alphabet Junior and the Big Shot machine to create the title from Certainly Celery cardstock. 

Stampin' Up!'s Vanilla Hardware and Medallion stamp

Not only did I get some spring cleaning done this past week but so did Ted and he found this letter that Tysha wrote him the September she went away to college for his birthday.  It is a beautiful letter that she shared what she admired about her dad.  He has kept it and wanted it put somewhere he will always be able to look back at it so of course it put it on my desk for me to do "something" with it. 

Well, I did something with it.  I copied it and reduce the size so I could easily add it to these pages and I also created a pocket behind my page for the original so he can always look back at that as well.

I love the look Stampin' Up! Vanilla hardware gives this page.  Stampin' Up! Medallion stamp gave it the elegant look I wanted and Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise really pop.  Enjoy

Big Shot Flower Die quilt

I have been doing a little quilting and just finished this quilt top that was pieced together and then I use the Big Shot Bigz clear Flower Die to cut out fabric and batting to create this flower image that I appliqued onto my pieced quilt front.  I also used the circle die for the flower centers. 

Using the Big Shot and the Stampin' Up! dies are a perfect way to create uniformed images that are quick to cut.  I layered 3 layers of batting and 6 layers of fabric cut them all at one time.  I used Stampin' Up!'s glue sticks to hold the layers together and onto my quilt while I appliqued the flowers to the quilt.  This was a very easy way to keep the layers from shifting and the glue will wash out. 

I now need to quilt this.  I grew up handquilting but that is a slow process so I want to learn to machine quilt.  That is my next hobby to start...  Like I have all the time in the world to learn how to do this but you know if you want to do something you can't wait until you are not busy or else it never gets done. 

Being a mom is great, sometimes.

I told you yesterday that I was doing some spring cleaning and to get out of cleaning I have been doing a little scrapbooking.  It is amazing the things you find that you saved to scrapbook that gets more stuff stacked on top of it until it becomes lost and forgotten.  A couple of years ago I received this wonderful email from my oldest daughter after we had not completely agreed during a phone conversation.  This email is one of those moments you treasure especially if you have had daughters that go through that awful stage where mom does not know anything and is good for just rolling eyes at and stomping out of the room. 

I printed the email with the date and time of day she composed it and included it on this wow scrapbooking page from a few years ago.  I did think I would copy this page layout using Stampin' Up! Spanish catalog stamp set Flores Suaves.  I was looking through the Stampin' Up! Spanish catalog and fell in love with that set.  It has a bee that is bigger than the one here and a wonderful background word stamp like this one and a beautiful flower I could use in place of the leaf I used here.  I can't wait to try it but in the mean time I created this page by tucking in my feelings into the journaling pocket and added a few photos of Shanae and Shanae and I throughout time to finish off the feel of this page.  My Wow Scrapbooking class is held of the 4th Friday of each month at 10am and repeated at 10pm if I have enough people sign up.  The cost is $30.00 and you make 3 two-page spreads similar to this one.  I hope you join me in April.
